Just a college kid trying to figure out where to go in life...

There is ugliness afoot.
Sinister, with roots twisting down beyond hope of any kind.
It will find you, yes, by the throat, and rob you of all you dreamed and toiled for.
When at last it departs, it is without remorse.
Leaving your faith to shrivel and rot.
What is left is of greater darkness than its origin.

Because it is so, God sends His Singers.

“In this moment now, capture it, remember it”

Way too sentimental….got “stuck” with the best roommates anyone could ask for this year. So sad to say goodbye to some of the greatest people I have ever met and who have left me with so many memories and advice and such a different outlook on life. Who would have thought that 5 random people could find each other and make such a connection?  I can’t believe I was lucky and blessed enough to have these 4 people put into my life. Every laugh and tear will be a reminder of how everything happens for a reason and how much of an impact people can make in your life. I will love them for everything they have done for me and everything we have shared together. These are the times that i will never forget.

Thoughts of the day…

Praying for America and for a leader that will lead us by the morals and standards that the US was founded upon.”

My cousins Facebook status today…
I am usually not one to really care/get upset about political junk. I mostly mind my own business, enjoy listening to other peoples views and take it all in. This is the way I take most political and confrontational matters, such as gay marriage or abortion. I’ve always said, “it’s not bothering me, so it doesn’t matter…their choices aren’t affecting my life in anyway.” I mean, if you really look at it, we are the ones affecting their choices. If people who had nothing to do with being gay or having to have abortions just let others do what they want it wouldn’t even be a big deal and they would realize how little it is affecting their own lives. Now, being in college and having my own experiences my tolerance with some of these comments and topics have shifted a little. By seeing the people in my life who are gay or even those who have babies I feel a need to change my decision. Gay, straight, what not, we’re all people. And everyone deserves to be happy. The world is too shitty of a place to be making people unhappy with things we can control. Which makes me more upset about this status. I have always thought very highly of my family members and the way that we all live our lives. I would argue to the fact that I am younger and have been to school, unlike most of them. But the thing that gets me the most is that my cousin is only a few years older than me, and coincidentally went to the same college I am currently at. Which although is made up of many close minded country folks, is also one of the most accepting campuses I have heard of with a very hefty supply of gays and lesbians. On top of the status alone, two of my aunts liked it, as well as 20 others and rising. I’m not entirely sure why this post got me so upset, maybe because it hit home since it is my family and I have always assumed they would be accepting and okay with me or anyone else in my family being gay. Or maybe it was just the wording of the status alone…”
Praying for America and for a leader that will lead us by the morals and standards that the US was founded upon.” If you read the article where Obama talks about his decision he clearly states that it was a changing process for him, and that his colleagues and children especially had a huge influence on him. I don’t think this is a political campaign like many other think, I think this is a moral decision that honestly does take a lot of time to make a decision about; gay or not, or having relations with those who are gay; it’s a change. I also think that this comment needs to be thought about a lot more…”the morals and standards that the US was founded upon…” correct me if I’m wrong, but as a History major I’m pretty sure I am correct…but America was founded on freedom. That is what we take pride in. Which on top of that, our country was not founded around God, we separated ourselves from the Church for our freedom. So all in all, I think that this status needs to be thought about much more, regardless of their viewpoints, just general knowledge and thoughtfulness towards humankind, I think that’s what the world truly needs.
